Wayne/Norfork/Omaha Nebraska

We will be visiting Wayne for a college visit at the end of April. We want to stay in Norfork where one of my son's friends live. I am looking for a reccomendation for a nice hotel in Norfork and for things to see and do in this area. We will have two days for touring and enjoy flea markets, antique stores, history and anything of regional interest. It will be our first trip to Nebraska. Thanks!!!

Wanted to let you know that Norfolk is spelled Norfolk, but is pronounced Nor-fork. It's a regional colloquialism. Now you know!

I googled lodging in Norfolk and just came up with chain hotel/motels, which is pretty much what I expected. The Lodge looked nice, and there was also a Holiday Inn Express, Hampton Inn, etc.

Johnny Carson grew up in Norfolk so there may be something there connected with him, a museum or his childhood home or something.

Are you going to be spending some time in Omaha? I could provide you with some additional information re: that city if needed.

You may want to try one of the Bed & Breakfasts for a different experience. Give Riviera Raceway a try. Depending on when you go there are antique fairs/shows. There are some antique dealers/stores... Buck-a-roo, Elkhorn, Double S. I think you will find the people very nice. Have a great trip!

There's a great museum here that has a ton of Johnny Carson stuff (Elkhorn Valley Museum), and by far, the best place to stay is Norfolk Lodge & Suites (402.371.4520). The website doesn't show it off very well, but the place is gorgeous, and the people are awesome. You'll love it.

I thought I would add a reply post trip in case anyone reads this thread for info later. We had a great trip to Norfolk, although the pronunciation of the name continues to throw us off!

The Norfolk Lodge was a great hotel. Clean spacious rooms, nice indoor pool, good complimentary breakfast, friendly staff. We will stay there again next trip!

The Elkhorn Museum was also a winner as was the nearby winery Cuthills Vinyards. We also found several antique stores and enjoyed a good meal at the Uptown Brewery in nearby Stanton.

Our son loved Wayne State College so I am sure this is the first of many trips for us to Norfolk/Wayne!
