Waterfire Providence

Looking for a special place in Providence to take a special woman to celebrate a big birthday. With all the flames on the water, nobody should notice all the candles on the cake.

In a earlier thread, several people recommended Cafe Nuovo. Does it have views of the river? Any other recommendations for riverside dining during Waterfire?

Cafe Nuovo is right next to the river but I'm not sure the fire extends that far along the river. They have outdoor tables if the weather is warm enough. Another restaurant is right near the basin where there is a circle of fire but you would have to have a table on the second floor. It was the Boathouse Grill but I think it has changed hands and has a new name. The best view will be from certain hotel rooms at the Westin. The water level in the canal is much lower than the street so the best view of Waterfire is leaning on the railing along the walkways. Steps from Cafe Nuovo lead down to a walkway along the water. I hope you both have a wonderful evening.

What is the Waterfire?

Take a look at
www.waterfire.com

When Providence was revitalized, the canal thru downtown was turned into a beautiful park. Huge torches line the middle of the river and form a circle in the middle of the basin/performance area. When they are lit, it is very beautiful but even during the day the canal is beautiful. In summer there's even a few gondolas for hire. On top of the amazing transformation of the city, Providence hosts several colleges including Johnson & Wales. Every restaurant seems to have great service and if you stay at the Westin, you get to sleep on Heavenly Beds (this was a recent topic).
