Washington Wineries - Any Good Ones to Visit?

My husband and I are making a trip to Seattle in late May with our 3 year old. We would love to visit some wineries during some day trips from the city. Any suggestions/directions would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!

Can highly reccomend the dinner train ride from Renton Wa. The 2 hour ride along the lake while the sun sets was very picturesque. The meal was excellent. The tour of the St. Michele winery, and samples were enjoyable. Dessert is served on the return trip. A memorable experience! Check with latest Seatle visitors guide for details and phone reservation number, as this fills up in advance.

Most of Washington's great wineries are not really within a day trip of Seattle. The center of the wine industry is in Eastern Washington about 3-4 hours from Seattle. St. Michele (see above) is a nice close-by visit and you can take the dinner train there, or drive, or bicycle to it on the Burke-Gilman Trail. Columbia Winery is in the same area. These west side wineries do not grow grapes. They don't grow on in the wet west. There are dozens of grape growers and wineries of all sizes around Prosser, Richland and Pasco.

We visited the Snoqualmie Winery. It's right off the Interstate 90, east of Seattle about an hour away at the most. In the area you should visit Snoqualmie Falls, very scenic!

I'll echo Sandra's comments about the Spirit of Washington dinner train. They serve some wonderful regional dishes along with the scenery. Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery has some lovely grounds.
