Washington Square Hotel

I have reservations for weekend of June 12/13 at Washington Sq. Hotel in Greenwich Village. It looks really convenient to restaurants, bars, gallaries in the area. It also had a "star" from Fodor's. But at the low (for NYC) rate, I was wondering about the hotel's quality/safety.

Anybody stayed there or know anything about the property.

Thanks,

Maury

don't know too many details, but friends stayed there and liked it very much. It's a great location if you going to be doing things in the Village.

You'll be very happy at the Washington Square Hotel. The location can't be beat and everyone that I know who has stayed there has been very satisfied. It's an older hotel and the rooms are probably small but you aren't going to NYC to hang out in your room. Safety is no more of an issue in NYC than it is in any other City. The hotel is a good value when compared to others in the City. You're in the heart of the Village so go have a blast.

Thanks Howard and Phil.

I've never been to NYC before and for some reason feel very uneasy about staying there -- you know, "America's biggest, best........" But I don't want to do everything "New York." (I do have tickets to "Art" at the Royale, but want to go to Belmont Park, Shea Stadium, ride the free ferry, get a subway pass - and "hang out" in Greenwich Village. You guys have made me feel much better about the Washington Square. Thanks,

Maury

Glad to be of help. Sounds like you've plan a solid, eclectic group of activities. I'd suggest you add a museum of two (Metropolitan, Museum of Natural History and/or Museum of Modern Art). HAve fun.
