We have a summer home in Long Beach, WA and just love the Pacific NW. We are also lovers of the National Parks, however, Crater Lake is quite remote and we found it less enjoyable than many parks. Instead I would recommend Redwoods National Park and Oregon Caves National Park. The Oregon Coast is just incredible and if you get down to either Grants Pass or Gold BEach I would definitely do a jetboat trip on the Rogue River. The Tillamook cheese factory is a huge tourist trap and just not that interesting. Its mainly a restaurant and gift shop. Do you really want to waste your valuable vacation time doing that? The lighthouses along the coast are all pretty nice, but we particularly enjoyed the one at Battery Point in Crescent City, CA. We particularly liked staying in Bandon, at the Bandon Inn. If you get all the way up the Oregon Coast to Washington the tidepools at Olympic National Park may seem redundent. Lake Crescent in Olympic National Park is lovely and we love the Lake Quinnault Lodge, although we prefer to stay across the lake in the Lake Quinnault Resort, which is quaint and gracious. Port Angeles puts you near Hurricane Ridge, plus you can take a ferry over to Victoria. There are several good ethnic restaurants in Port Angeles. You may want to check costs and flights and car rentals into both Portland and Seattle because neither one is really a major airport. Either one is a perfectly acceptible entry into the area.

Hi, I live here in the PNW and agree with those who say, "less is more" when it comes to trying to see everything..I would suggest Orcas, if you can only do one island..it is more remote, and incredible.. but sometimes when you try to see it all, you miss a lot, as you are on 'overload'. anyway, have a great time.
