Why do you want to stay in Fairfax? Getting into D.C. from Fairfax each day could end up being a nightmare depending on which area of Fairfax you are staying.

If you don't want to stay in D.C. itself, then Arlington or parts of Alexandria would be a much better choice than Fairfax.

Give specific dates, number of beds needed. whether you will be parking a car and your budget and we can probably make some good suggestions.

You do need to explain a bit better. What is your budget, and why do you want to be in Fairfax? Is there a reason for this, or did you just hear of it, because it isn't that close or convenient to Washington DC. I agree with above suggestions, if you want VA for some reason, pick Arlington, Rosslyn, Crystal City or maybe near Old Town (a lot of Alexandria is pretty far out, wouldn't recommend most of it).

Thank you for your answer. We are the group of tourists, who traveling from Milwaukee to New York with moorcycles. We are not going to stay in Washington, just want to be there for one day. We want to stay somewhere for a night, and then visit Washington.

If you are traveling from Milwaukee to NY with motorcycles, you definitely need a place in the suburbs, but wouldn't it make more sense to be on the north side of the city, rather than the west? Aren't you coming across route 70 and then down I270 in the north of Washington? Or perhaps go down Rte 79 near Wheeling down into WV and then across Route 68 (my preferred route, I frequently drive to/from DC and Columbus OH), but you still end up on I270 coming into DC. I presume you might be going up I95 to NY but you can easily pick that up on the north side of DC in Maryland, or take 70 east at Frederick over to Baltimore.

You aren't planning on driving around DC on motorcycles, are you? Well, you can, but traffic is bad and you will have trouble finding parking spots.

If you plan to take the metro, pick a hotel out in the northern burbs near a metro station, which has hotels with free parking. If you only visit one day, it doesn't really matter how far out it is. LIke Shady Grove or Glenmont. The Rockville station is kind of in an urban area, but it wold be okay, as would Twinbrook, actually. Some of those budget hotels out near Shady Grove have free shuttles to the metro (they might be in Gaithersburg).

We are driving road 50 and then 66 or 267.

The Days Inn Arlington/Washington 2201 Arlington Boulevard.. Close to the District and free parking and easy to get to since it is located ON Rte 50

Is it a nice place?

"We are driving road 50 and then 66 or 267."

Are you referring to Rte 50 across northern West Virginia? If so, I'd suggest a bit farther south and taking Rte 33. Much more scenic, crosses a lot of National Forest land, takes you to Harrisonburg, VA. A little more time, but it is much, much better than Rte 50. Lots of twists and turns, but 50 has that as well. If you just mean Rte 50 from Winchester, VA, well....never mind.

There are nicer choices in Arlington than the Days Inn on Arlington Boulevard (and budget-priced too). I would recommend: 1) Holiday Inn Rosslyn at Key Bridge, 2) Best Western Iwo Jima or 3) the Americana Hotel. All of these offer free parking and are within walking distance of a Metro stop and will be a quick ride into D.C. The Holiday Inn and the Best Western are within walking distance of the Rosslyn Metro stop in Arlington. The Americana Hotel is within walking distance of the Crystal City or Pentagon City Metro stops in Arlington.
