Has anyone used Open Top Sightseeing? When looking on Gray Lines the two day hop on/hop off looks the same as the Open Top Sightseeing in the Official Visitors Guide. Is this a reputable company? We are going over Easter weekend. Will this be unbearably crowded? Is it better to just figure out the metro? Prices for two day was pretty reasonable. What kind of weather should we expect?

Don't know Open Top, but check out the Olde Town Trolley and Tourmobile hop-on, hop-off busses.

If you are just trying to get from Point A to Point B the metro is probably your best bet - it is not hard to figure out, I promise! I have never used the sightseeing buses but I would thing they would be better if you are interested in seeing more of the city in one fell swoop and getting some commentary along the way. I had a friend visiting last summer who used the Olde Town Trolley and enjoyed it.
Weather - unfortunately I think it is supposed to rain on Saturday. They're predicting lows in the 30s and highs in the 40s on Sat., 50s on Sun. Enjoy your trip! The cherry blossoms are just starting to bloom. |
One advantage to Olde Town Trolley and Tourmobile....you get CLOSER to some actual sights/sites; you see all the scenery on the way; you hop on and off without having to walk back and forth to a more remotely-located station.

I see the Open Tops often in downtown. They have both the upper seating up top and the enclosed area below.
The top looks like a fun area to sit on a nice day, but I have no idea about their routes or reliability. If you're concentrating on mall/museums/monuments, Tourmobile has always worked for your visitors. Metro isn't hard to figure out and some sort of day pass might be just the ticket -- depending on your destinations. |
