Washington DC hotels

I'm trying to find a reasonable priced hotel ($200.-$300.) for 5/13/20011 to 5/18/2011. I'm going to the Omni Shoreham for the Alz. Forum an the Omni is all ready sold out. So since I'm a 62 yr old women traveling alone I need a safe area close to the Metro. Please help me I'm traveling from Ca.

You could look for something around Dupont Circle - quite a few hotels and an area with a number of interesting restaurants as well.

One block from the Omni Shoreham is the Marriott Wardman Hotel.

Agree that Dupont Circle is one metro stop away and has several hotels that might work for you.

I routinely stay in downtown DC hotels and can say from personal experience that something (other than it being a very popular month to visit) is driving hotel prices during the two weeks you're looking at. Rooms that are normally in the $200-$350 range are $300-$500 a night and higher with very limited availability downtown.

Hotels outside of downtown in Virginia (Alexandria, Arlington and Crystal City) seem to be in concert with the time of year, busy & pricey but not sold out. I, as well as many others here, can recommend places but you might prefer something on the Maryland side which will be closer to your event.

Are you comfortable with using the big hotel discounters?

Something will work but it may be a something that is pricier or more of a distance from the Shoreham than you'd prefer. Sorry, I feel your pain.

Try Priceline

Have you looked at the choices in Bethesda Md. or around the Friendship Heights Metro (at DC/Md line)? They would be convenient for getting back and forth to the Shoreham on the Red line, and there are shops and restaurants nearby.
