Washington DC Hotel advice

Omni Shoreham, in Calvert Street, is this anywhere near attractions like White House and other DC places, easy to get around form there?. Don't want to be miles away from the tourist area. I guess advice on reasonable hotels near attractions please. (reasonable meaning not over $150 a night...or so) ANY HOTELS IDEAS WOULD BE APPRECIATED

The Omni Shoreham is a lovely hotel in a lovely setting, a few minutes' walk from the Woodley Park Metro station.

For other hotel ideas, you might want to do a search on the other recent threads about DC hotels.

That Omni isn't very near the major attractions, but it is close to a Metro stop and as Anon. says, it's in a great neighborhood. It's also close to the zoo. The Metro is very safe at all hours, so I don''t see a downside to the Omni Shoreham.

If you are looking for a great location and are not that picky, try Hotel Harrington. We could not have asked for a better location and stayed for $99 per night.
