Washington DC Best Area to Stay

We will be traveling to DC for Memorial Weekend. Going to see Braves play the Nationals. We have two teenagers and want to stay where we can walk to shops, restaurants, and activites. Any suggestions would be great. Would like to stay under $200 a night. Thanks!

We stayed at Carlyle Suites a couple of weeks ago in Dupont Circle. You can click on my name to get my trip report. We really liked the area. Have fun.

If you'd like to see some of Washington then you might like tos tay around Dupont Circle. Otherwise you may wish to stay closer to Metro so you can use that to get to and from RFK. Some of the hotels like the JWMarriott downtown would be in a good area. But you really would be better to stay away from the NE area and the area close to RFK. If a hotel/motel is on New York Ave NE then it's probably in a rough area.

A couple of suggestions:

Capitol Hill Suites - one block to the blue/orange line (Capitol South). Nice area with plenty of restaurants close-by and three subway stops on the Blue/Orange to the game. Also close to Barracks Row and Eastern Market.

Otherwise, get a place in Dupont Circle. Here are a few choices withing your budget and close to the Dupont Metro:

Tabard Inn - http://www.tabardinn.com

Topaz Hotel - http://www.topazhotel.com

Madera Hotel - http://www.hotelmadera.com
