WARNING (San Francisco area) - Potential BART Strike Starting 7/1/2013
 

A BART strike is likely, starting 7/1/2013. If you were planning to take BART from SFO into San Francisco, here are some alternatives on public transit:

-SamTrans bus KX (fare $5), express bus, once an hour; stops in SF: 7th & Mission, 1st & Mission, Transbay Terminal; 40 minutes to Transbay Terminal.

-SamTrans bus 292 (fare $2); local bus, twice an hour during commute times, otherwise once an hour; about 70 minutes to Transbay Terminal.

-In the event of a BART strike, SFO will be operating a free shuttle to the Millbrae Caltrain station. Caltrain fare into SF is $5.

Cabs should be available at the Transbay Terminal and at the Caltrain station in SF.

There are also door to door shuttles from SFO. I would recommend getting a reservation in advance.

I know these things aren't very definite, but is this expected to be a fairly short strike or a long time one -- meaning several months?

the longest a strike has ever lasted is 6 days..but there's only been one before this.

According to the news, the strike did start this morning.
