We've stayed at the Registry in Naples and really enjoyed it too. The hotel sits adjacent to a nature preserve with a beautiful boardwalk that winds its way through the mangrove swamp to the beach.
But despite what many posters are saying about the abundant nightlife there, we got the impression (we were there for only three nights, so admittedly it could be a wrong impression) that it was more of a sedate place to come and relax.
If you want to party, Key West seems to have much more exciting nightlife. We stayed at the Hilton which was an excellent resort hotel right on the water adjacent to Mallory Square (where the nightly sunset festival is held) and a quick walk to Duval Street -- party central.
While the Key West beaches probably aren't Florida's best, the Hilton has a private island with a gorgeous, uncrowded beach with full amenities including a beautiful spot to get lunch. I can't say enough about the Hilton, least of all that it is quite expensive, but it's got to be the best full-service hotel in Key West...

I too would think South Beach or Key West would be what you are looking for. Both offer great places to dine, see and play! The only problem is the fact that spring breaks usually happen in March and most of South Fla feels the effect of it.

What I like of South Beach is that if you are in hotel in the area, you can walk to almost everything. Actually you do not need a car which is a relieve, no hotel parking fees . Valet parking in restaurants is a night mare, expensive and you have to wait. ages to get your car. So if you are four, even if you are in South Beach and one day you want to go far rent for the day, or take a taxi. Sharing the expense makes taxis afordable. True distances are big but as I said most everything will be at walking distance.

Naples is definitely NOT a Spring Break place- Way too upscale and expensive for the college kids....
I WISH I could live there FULLTIME--but would probably have to rob a bank to bankroll the lifestyle I get when on vacations there!!
