Warmest areas on Hawaii?
 

We are thinking of Maui, Hauai, and the Big Island. We will be travelling in late July/August. We like it HOT! ANy thoughts?

Don't worry, you picked the hottest months. South sides of all islands are usually the hottest.

But Hawaii never gets as hot as most areas of the mainland; the temperature rarely goes above 85. We visited Oahu and the BI in July and came home to a Boston heat wave of 95 degrees, it was hard to adjust after the lovely moderate temps and ocean breezes!

One of the main reasons I like Hawaii so much better than the Caribbean is the moderate temps and the breezes. If you are looking for VERY hot, try Mexico or the Caribbean instead. One year in May, we experienced higher temps and humidity in Maui but of all the times we have been to Hawaii that was the only time I was uncomfortable and I have been in almost every month.

If you want HOT, Hawaii isn't really the place to go.
The highest temp ever recorded on Lanai, for example, was 91. Hilo 93.
Honolulu 95.
And those aren't averages, they're records.
No city in Hawaii averages a high of 90 or more anytime during the year.

But high temps in the Caribbean aren't much different than Honolulu's.
Even Aruba, which is only 18 miles from South America, doesn't average 90 degrees during summer. The breezes on the islands moderate the heat.

If you want heat in Hawai`i, head for the leeward (west) side of any of the islands.

Here on Kaua`i, the towns of Kekaha and Waimea are arid and hot, hot, hot in the summer time.
