Warm USA Feb. location for elderly couple
I am doing some research for an elderly friend. The husband has some
mobility issues, but they want to escape the cold of Northern Midwest~ the
wife writes,
"We are trying to find a sunny resort with mild weather in Arizona for February where the scenery is nice and we can take walks. I am looking for a place perhaps in Sedona."
She mentioned the huge resorts in Florida were not appealing. They would like something with some charm and scenery, not overrun by hordes of tourists. Think
no budget for now.
Thanks in advance for direction! I've never researched this area.

Sedona is located at 4800 ft elevation, so it is not the warmest place during the winter. Historic average temperature in February is 45 deg F, with average highs around 58 deg F and average lows around 33 deg F. Is this warm enough for you friends? If not, they should seek a lower elevation and look further south.

I'm thinking a VRBO rental near Sabino Canyon
in Tucson might fit the bill.

February is a mighty popular month for Tucson-there's a huge international Gem Show so things might be booked.
Try the surrounding areas-Bisbee, Tubac, Green Valley,
Sonoita, etc.
What is their budget ?

Well - for places that meet their requirements, winter would be the high season. So it would pretty difficult to find tourist-free zones.
Tuscon, the Phoenix area, Palm Springs, or around San Diego. Of these, Tuscon would probably be warmest. SD would be mostly mild, but not warm.

Sedona is lovely but will still be quite cool in Feb/March.
I would suggest PHX or Tucson and drive up to Sedona on up during the week.
Lots of resorts..just depends on their budget since its considered high season but there are great things with his mobility issues for any price.
After you let us know that, then we can move forward.

I went on to a weather site and saw the temp averages~ everyone is correct, kind of chilly! Thanks for the options.
I don't think she should give up on Florida. Captiva might be nice, no high rise resorts.

I have stayed at the South Seas Resort and loved it! However, the hotel is a bit spread out over many acres, so I am not sure how that would affect the mobility issue. The beach is gorgeous and the scenary is lovely.
Also, girl on the go suggested Naples which is amazing too. There is a little more to do there. If you want to spurgle, stay at the Ritz Carlton on the beach. We loved every minute of it there.
