Warm enough for the beachin February

We are a retired couple who would like to spend February of 08 in a warm place...by a beach. What areas would you recommend where the temps would usually be around 75 plus, and have nice beaches?

Hawaiian Islands

Marco Island Florida

The Caribbean; warmer water than Hawaii, better weather in winter.

In February, you run the risk of cool, chilly weather even in South Florida, the Bahamas, and Bermuda.

You simply need to go farther south, into the Caribbean. Any island will do.

I'll agree it can be a risk, but in Naples this February we had highs above 75 for 17 of the 28 days. Eight of those days had highs above 80. Of course, we also had highs as low as 60 a couple times too.

Another vote for Hawaii, with warning that you need lots of sunscreen! My cousin and I got badly burned one February when we missed some spots while putting on sunscreen.

Need it hotter? go to Rio...it's about 90 degrees!

We would like to be closer to home..(Michigan)...thanks.

Try this link. Just out in the temp you want for the month you are traveling and it will give you some ideas. http://www.weather.com/activities/tr...r/?from=footer

There isn't anywhere closer to your home that will have temps around 75plus (usually)in February. Florida is the closest and temps aren't guaranteed... Puerto Rico is a better bet.

sumreknot, if you want to be closer to home take a chance on Florida. It will most certainly be warmer than Michigan!

I agree with the further south in the Caribbean the better. My husband and I went to the Bahamas in February a couple years ago and I thought it was a little too cold to swim.

By "closer to home" do you mean within the United States? As mentioned I don't think there's a beach with warm weather close to Michigan in the winter!!

California or Florida would be obvious choices but they are not as warm as Hawaii or Mexico in February.

The Mexican Yucatan. Great beaches, great food, hot weather, inexpensive hotels.

GoTravel Apr 2nd, 2007 07:25 AM

I'd get an inexpensive rental in Ft.Lauderdale, Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, or Hollywood, Florida.

California would be risky - you might get 75+ in southern California in February, but it would probably be more like 65 with a chilly ocean.

floridakathleen Apr 4th, 2007 09:37 AM

If you want guaranteed warm weather why not think about USVI, St.Thomas all time low temp used to be 69. Average Highs in February 85 Low 72. Can't beat that!
Florida can be good or bad in February, very unpredictable.

suze Apr 4th, 2007 09:46 AM

I agree with others that California or Florida may be risky to expect that temperature in February.

US Virgin Island, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, or Mexico would likely be much warmer.
