Want to stay in a lighthouse...

Not having much luck searching the web and finding a real lighthouse (lots of replicas that look like replicas) to sspend the night in.

Any suggestions on finding one?

Not in the US, but in Newfoundland I stayed at the Quirpon Island Lighthouse. You actually sleep in the Lightkeepers house, not the lighthouse itself.

The Heceta Head bed and breakfast is not staying in the lighthouse- its the lighthouse keepers home - but I a have stayed there and it is a fun experience, great food and overlooking my favorite beach in Oregon!
Highly recommended

You can be the lighthouse keeper at Dungeness Spit, but it is a full week commitment:

Hostelling International has 3 options in ground quarters next to lighthouses. Pescadero Point is 25 miles south of San Francisco. Pigeon Point is 50 miles south of San Francisco. My DW and I stayed at Pigeon Point-the free wifi even worked.
You should check out Tibbets Point Lighthouse at the west end of the Thousand Islands in New York State if you want to bein the east.
If you just want a small room in the top of a tower, I can tell you where to rent a fire tower from the USFS.

Lighthousebb.org. It's at Two Harbors MN, about 40 miles north of Duluth. There are only 3 rooms in the lighthouse itself--there's a 4th room in a little building a few steps away.

When we were there a few years ago, there was no innkeeper on site during the night. Someone comes in in the morning to cook a nice breakfast.

We hugely enjoyed it. There's also a bridge from a Great Lakes freighter on the grounds--be the master of your fate (and out of harm's way!)

If she did stay in a lighthouse, I hope she shares her experience.

After 1 year and 9 months I don't think sallyjane is coming back to tell us about her trip to a lighthouse lodging.
My favorite is Pigeon Point HI Hostel about 50 miles south of San Francisco.

Sunbum,

Isn't there a Lighthouse(maybe Hecta Head) along the Oregon coast that has a volunteer to stay for the entire month?
