Want to make a donation, will you please help?

Since I fly a great deal on AA, I will be receiving 2 free tickets due to the "Fly three, get one free" promotion. There are restrictions, but basically they are good within continental US.
I will not be able to use the tickets, so I thought there may be an organization that could use them.
My first thought was that maybe some military social agency could provide them to a family of an injured, recovering Iraq war veteran, as long as it's within US.
My second choice would be for any organization that helps the families of terminally ill children.

I've never done this before, so I don't know where to start. I'm looking for a name, address and/or phone number of any organization that works with the people mentioned above. (Please, no private names or addresses)

Thanks! :-)

I'm also posting this on Airline Forum.

The "Make a Wish Foundation" helps ill children. Try going to
www.makeawish.org

There's also "Special Wish" Foundation that is a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to granting the wishes of children under the age of 21 and diagnosed as having a life- threatening disorder.

If you're interested, here is their website:

Thanks for the generosity you're showing from whichever agency receives the gift.

Haven't any ideas but just wanted to say may God bless you for your generosity! The world needs more thoughtful people like you!

I believe even AA has a program to help needy children if you have miles to donate - perhaps calling the "AAFrequentFlyer" number to get info ;)

You can try United Animal Nations, which works with injured pets, saves horses, and animals. Try uan.org
I know it's not your main preference, but just a thought.

Don't have any suggestions, but a very nice gesture on your part, AA. I like your military idea.

You might check into the USO...

I agree with Schmerl: Make-a-wish would be my first choice. Also there is a Ronald McDonald house which helps families with ill children.

Locate charities in your area. My SIL used to work with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (my nephew has CF) and they always had events w/ silen auctions. Maybe you could donate to that? Nice thing that you're doing!!

I know a friend who is adopting overseas (from Ethiopia). She is a bit worried about the ticket price... I wonder if some adoption places accept them for bringing children home to their new families.

What a nice thing to do! I also think Make-A-Wish Foundation would be a good one.

That is sooo nice of you, AAFF!

I support Ronald McDonald Houses as they provide lodging for families of kids who are often in out-of-town cities for specialized and/or long term care. They (the families) are already saddled with extraordinary expenses & stress, which is eased a little by the home-like atmosphere of the House and the company of others in similar circumstances. Many people think that a RMDH is part of McD's ... no, just heavily (but far from 100%) supported. Make-a-Wish would be my second choice. As far as helping a Mil service family, your local Red Cross may be able to help identify a deserving family. Bless you!

I vote for the Ronald McDonald House charity. Parents of these sick seriously ill children can be 500+ miles from the hospital where the child is being treated. At least one parent likely has to continue to work at times and commute to see the child - perhaps weekly or less often - usually driving for cost reasons. Such a gift would provide more valuable parent/child time together. I, too, commend your generosity.
