Want FL Wooded Walks

My husband and I are planning an anniversary getaway and would like to stay in Southwest,Western or Central Florida. We really enjoy taking walks in wooded areas. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Also if there are any quaint cities, towns or villages near these areas that would be great.

These three areas cover an enormous number of miles. All have state parks which offer wooded walks. Naturally Central Florida is the most built up of the three areas. Southwest Florida, the Fort Myers area, still has plenty of places to explore. I assume you mean the Panhandle by Western Florida, and there are even more wooded areas in that part of the state.

You really need to decide what area or areas you want to visit before specific suggestions can be made.

Look for a State Park in the area you are planning on visiting, http://www.dep.state.fl.us/parks/

Central Fl has wonderful parks including Weikwa Springs and Blue Springs. There is also Hontoon Island. They are all very natural parks and just north (20 minutes to 45 minutes) of downtown Orlando.

Naples, at least the Old Naples part of town, is quaint and charming, with a ton of shops, galleries, restaurants, every street leading to the Gulf beaches. They have Caribbean Gardens, and the Corkscrew nature preserve is nearby. A good day trip is a drive to Sanibel Island which is Caribbean-like and had the Ding Darling nature preserve.

I was just going to suggest the Corkscrew Sanctuary as well. There is a 2 and a half mile boardwalk through cypress forest as well as other environments. It's a fascinating place.

There are also various other walks within the Everglades starting just east of Naples.
