Walt Disney World Spending Money
My daughter, which is 13 years old, and I will be visiting Disney World next week for ten days. I have put aside $1300 for food and souvenirs. We plan to make our own breakfast each morning and have a few other meals at our vacation home. We have one character ADR and one theme ADR already. Will the $1300 be enough for food and souvenirs? We are not big shoppers.

If you are staying on site, that should be plenty assuming you have already purchased your park tickets.

When it comes to souvenirs, apparel, jewelry and the like - you should consider that Disney sells all of their Disney Parks merchandise online. You can feel free to peruse the stores and not have to worry about shipping it or lugging it back home!
Create your own shopping list based on what you see at the parks and order at your own leisure. Doing this will cut down on some impulse purchases too. As far as food, if it is just the two of you and you are going to break up the trip accordingly with relaxation time back at the vacation home, you should be fine. You will probably spend more at the parks and resorts than you would think, but you will not spend enough to put a significant dent in your food and souvenir budget. Strongly recommend the Dole Whip at the Magic Kingdom. |
At least your not drinking around the world at Epcot. You can spend $$$ doing that. Downtown Disney has nice places to eat. she would like Rainforest Café. Are you staying on property? If so they have free transportation there to the downtown area. I like eating at Raglan Road myself. You can buy anything you want at the Disney store at the airport when you leave also. Same price.

If you're not staying on site, you also have to budget for parking, which is itself $17 per day.

$1300 for 2 people for 10 days is $65/person/day for food and souvenirs. As long as you have the $1300 set aside strictly for food/souvenirs, I don't see how you could run out unless you go wild on the souvenirs.
Food is not cheap but if you are smart about your choices you will be fine. Share a soda when you eat, fill up a bottle with water from the drinking fountain and you'll save quite a bit just on beverages. |
Doug is right bout the parking price, it is really better to stay on site.
