Are you using your own boat or are you going ot use a charter? If a charter, you might decide on the charter company first and then figure out where to stay based on this. You'll also need to decide whether you are going to do Western, Central or Eastern Lake Erie as one end is pretty far from the other (Toledo-Buffalo). Western Lake Erie puts you near Put-in-Bay and Kelly's Island, nice day trips or even a possible place to stay...

WE do not own a boat. We would like Ohio as it is not that far from home. Thanks

I would certainly consider Kelley's Island as a base. If you don't catch any. you can always go to the "Pump" & have some there. www.kelleysisland.com, www.kelleysislandchamber.com & www.villagepump.com.

I agree with previous posters. Staying around Kelley's Island or Put-In-Bay is a lot of fun and there's many boats that will take you out to fish. If you don't want to stay on the islands, another option is staying near Catabaw...right near the water.
