Walking Distance/Safety to French Quarter

Just reserved a room at the Hotel Monaco (333 St. Charles Avenue)which seems 3 or 4 blocks from the F.Q (Canal Street). I'd appreciate comments on the hotel, its location and safety of the walk to the F.Q.

I am also considering the Hotel Monaco and would like feedback on this relatively new hotel. I'm no shrinking violet, but join Frank in wondering about the safety of walking back to the hotel from the French Quarter in the evening.

Don't chance it, take a cab. You're not going that far so it won't be too pricey.

From what I remember, you'll be fine to walk to and from the Quarter at night. St. Charles is a pretty safe street. Use common sense like you usually do. If you're not sure, walk it during the day and if it makes you uncomfortable then, take a cab back at night.

No problem walking back and forth. St. Charles is a busy street even at night.

You'll be three or four blocks off Canal? Take a cab.
