Waliea Ekahi/Waliea Reniassance

We just got back from our vacation in Maui. While we love the Waliea Ekahi condos and have stayed there 3 times in the past, we were very disappointed by the construction site right next door. They are building a new condo resort and have taken out all the vegitation on the south side of the property. It has ruined the formerly beautiful beach view. The construction site is also very noisy, so it hard to enjoy the pool area.

This construction site fronts the north side of the Waliea Reniassance hotel as well.

Anyway, they're just getting started, so you might want to avoid these properties for at least a year.

I also saw your message regarding Kiahuna Plantation in Kauai. Sounds like your vacation was under construction everywhere. We're staying at the Renaissance in May. I know there was going to be construction nearby when I booked, but how bad was in Wailea?

Yes, bad luck this trip. That's why I thought I'd post these messages. If we'd know about the construction sites, we would have picked another place to stay.

The construction site is located between the Waliea Ekahi and the Reniassance. The rest of Waliea is just fine. Walking down the beach, the noise disappears by the time you get to the Grand Waliea.

Too bad my travel agent didn't tip me off before we left

Thanks for the heads-up. We changed our reservation from the Kapalua Bay Villas because of construction to the Ekahi. We're going in July. Now, I guess we should change that! What a mess. Any other suggestions? I know the Eluha is beautiful but too expensive for a 14 day stay. Maybe we'll just skip HI this year. Thanks.

Jackie, have you thought about the Hana Kai Maui condos, right on beautiful beach, on the Kihei/Wailea line? My sister just toured the newly renovated condos there, and said they're just gorgeous, and not nearly as expensive as the condos right smack in the center of Wailea? You could walk down to the Renaissance and the rest of Wailea. There's several websites featuring the Hana Kai Maui - do a search! I would NEVER skip Hawaii!

Sorry! Should have said MANA Kai Maui condos (the Hana Kai-Maui Condos are in Hana!)

Thanks. I'll look into it. It just seems that there's construction absolutely everywhere on the island. Too bad.

I am booked at Ekahi Village in June. I've talked with a couple who just visited the Renaissance in March. They told me construction was more on south side of Renaissance; shouldn't be a problem at the lower village at Ekahi. Can somebody please help me.
