Waldorf Astoria-Great Rates 5/20-5/23

Good morning! Since everyone has been so generous to me in the past with ideas, tips and bargains....I want to pass along what I found! $169-179 for regular room at the Waldorf. I was shocked, but excited at the location and the name! :)

A "regular" room at the Waldorf is anout the size of my master bathroom at home. It is not what you would expect for the hotel of that caliber. Also, ask if you can get a room in the Towers where they are much bigger and nicer.

Sorry to rain on your parade, but I have to agree. The older hotels in NYC have a pretty wide variety of room types, ranging from the really swell to the small and grungy, fancy name notwithstanding. Please inquire in detail as to the type of room you'll get, and keep shopping. Rates are plummeting almost everywhere as a result of the economy, the war, etc. etc. Best of luck!

I spent Christmas of 2000 at the Waldorf at the $129 rate. The hotel put me in a large corner room.

As far as an upgrade to the towers, will they even do that? The Walforf at best, is a 4 star and the Towers are a 5 star hotel.

We (a party of three) were upgraded to the Towers last May...I had asked for a room close to an elevator because my sister has a walking disability. They responded by upgrading us.

THANK YOU for your advice! Is the Towers right there? I am planning on shopping around, but wanted to get a "just in case" reservation. There will be 2 beds and 3 people. (Aged 26-28) We are used to staying in cheap, Days Inn types of places, so figured this would be an upgrade. Am I assuming correctly?

Yes right there. You're worth the upgrade and you'll have a blast.

My friend and her husband stayed at the Waldorf last month and the 179 a night rate included the buffet breakfast, which was 38 each. So all in all not such a bad thing . Room was large corner room, no view but great time.

Join the Hilton Honors Club right now and you have a much better chance of getting upgraded to the Towers. It just happened to a friend of mine for that reason.

I stayed in the Towers about 3 years ago, and was really disappointed in the hotel. Not at all what I expected (and paid for). But I guess you're not going to beat that rate by much in NYC, so I'd take it. Just don't expect too much.
