But, here's another FYI - the New York Barclay Intercontinental has also recently been a Hotwire 4-1/2* Midtown EAST Hotel.

It is important to note that just because your selection resulted in the Waldorf, subsequent results for others may not be the same.
The Waldorf has some lovely rooms and some terrible rooms. Tell him not to put up with a terrible room!

Postal-Thanks for the heads up on the bad rooms!

djkbooks-
I put the detailed description so hopefully you can tell which one is the Waldorf, that's what is pretty cool about hotwire! How much was the Barclay?

The Waldorf Astoria has been going for $111-$120 on Priceline for Feb & March dates. Priceline almost always beats Hotwire (I think they even offer a guarantee now that if they don't beat Hotwire, they'll give you a refund). Check out winning priceline bids on the biggest & best Priceline bid posting forum, www.biddingfortravel.com. Plus, the web site administrators, Sheryl & Jennianne, will give you advice on what to bid and how to use Priceline knowledgably. It's a great source.

Kristy:

You omitted from your post here, and also on betterbidding.com, which Hotwire area you selected - Midtown EAST or Midtown WEST. You cannot necessarily tell which hotel Hotwire is offering by the ammenities.

We stayed at the Waldorf via Hotwire for four nights last June for $119/night. Room was large, nice, not too far from the elevators, and had a very nice view.
