Wakeboarding in April?

Does anyone know of a lake in south central florida that we can boat, wakeboard and ski in mid-April?
Thank you:)

Topping this so we can plan our next trip! Thanks so much! :)

tambennett, I'm sure you've realized that Sundays are always slower on Fodor's. I'd suggest topping this in the morning, and you'll get more responses.

Aren't all lakes in Florida off limits due to alligators?

You might want to include "lakes in Florida" as part of the title of your post to catch the eye of the Florida experts (wakboarding in April could mean anywhere).

I will repost with a different title!
I have started doing research but can't really find anything! We considered Lake Ockochobee but it says it's average depth is 9 feet! How can a lake so big be so shallow?

"Aren't all lakes in Florida off limits due to alligators?"

Not at all. Yes, it's pretty much a given that any body of water around here will have an alligator or three, but most are just fine (except maybe Lake Jessup, it's just full of 'em). Gators will tend to stay away from boats and people in recreational areas. Due care is a given, though (don't swim at night, etc.). Here's a link for some tips on that subject:

Where we live, there is a wake boarding school on Lake Minneola. Lake Minnehaha and Lake Louisa are also heavily used.

All of these are shallow, that's pretty much the rule for lakes here. As to why, here's an interesting link: http://aquat1.ifas.ufl.edu/guide/lakes.html

April should be a pretty warm time. Highs should be in the mid-80's during the day in my area, and even warmer farther south.
