I guess not everyone has insomnia like I do--or on west coast time ;-)

I'll go...I need to vent and I can't sleep!

Rave: You can rant and rave at any hour of the day or night!

Rant: More prenatal tests came back Monday indicating scary results. This time they say that our baby has a high probability that he has spina bifida or neural tube defects.

Rave: Several weeks ago something like this happened but those tests were proven wrong so I'm not *quite* as panicy as I was in Round One.

Rant: First appointment with the specialist I could get wasn't til Friday at 9 so we've had a whole week of waiting and stressing.

Rave: My OB isn't overly worried as the AFP test has a high false positive rate and other factors may have skewed the results.

Rant: It's hard to stay positive when your baby's life is involved.

Rave: I have the most positive- thinking husband who helps me keep things in perspective.

Rant: My positive thinking husband got hit in the head w/a hockey puck while coaching his nephew's team and we spent Wed. night in the emergency room.

Rave: He's ok, no concussion and didn't need stitches!

Rant:.. but he has the biggest knot on his head that I've ever seen and a dandy of a headache.

Rave: I have wonderful friends, coworkers, students and family. (Like PLMN's the family is a bit wacky but wouldn't change them for the world!)

Donna, well, it isn't Friday here yet.

OWJ, I'm praying for another false positive for you.

Judyrem Oct 29th, 2004 05:28 AM

OWJ, I hope things turn out good for you.

joan Oct 29th, 2004 05:31 AM

OneWanderingJew: I don't know you, but I have a good vibe about this for some reason. God Bless, you and your wonderful husband are in all our prayers!

Statia Oct 29th, 2004 05:49 AM

OWJ, I've had a really bad week with bad news, as well, but it doesn't compare to what you have been going thru.

I'm hoping and praying for the best for you and your baby. I'm glad to hear you have such a great hubby to lean on, but sorry to hear about his puck accident. :O

Keep us updated.

Maggi Oct 29th, 2004 05:51 AM

OWJ, my heart goes out to you. We just went through a scary month with our daughter-in-law's pregnancy (with our first grandchild), so I know how excruciating the waiting can be. In our case, thank God, all was well and baby Nathan (despite being 6 weeks early and under 5 lbs) is doing well. You will be in my prayers also. Please keep us posted on how you are doing.

Meesthare Oct 29th, 2004 06:09 AM

OWJ, you'll be in our minds and hearts. Please let us know how things go.

OWJ: Prayers for a healthy baby!

OneWanderingJew Oct 29th, 2004 08:39 AM

Thanks for all the supportive comments, everyone but the update is not what you want to hear. We had an ultrasound today. Instead of ruling out defects, we discovered the baby is stillborn. Big, friggin rant and I'm sorry if I'm depressing everyone.

The rave is that my husband is wonderful and is handling things that maybe I should be. I know his heart is breaking but he's more worried about me than himself...and I'm more worried about him than me at this moment...

Thanks for listening, I know my posts today are what we go to a travel forum for. Thank you.

OneWanderingJew Oct 29th, 2004 08:40 AM

I meant to say, my comments are NOT why we all found fodors...sorry all brain and fingers arent' in synch at the moment.

Barbara Oct 29th, 2004 09:03 AM

OWJ, "Sorry" just doesn't convey how badly I feel for you. Your Fodorite friends are all here for you.

Statia Oct 29th, 2004 09:07 AM

Virtual hugs, OWJ. I'm so sorry to hear this awful news. Take care of yourself and you and DH take care of one another. You'll get thru this difficult time.

Judyrem Oct 29th, 2004 10:43 AM

OWJ, I am so sorry to hear that. PLease take care of each other in this trying time. Judy

i'm sorry for your loss

caribtraveler Oct 29th, 2004 11:32 AM

OneWanderingJew: I am SO sorry. I know it's hard to believe but it will get better (I was where you are a little less than a year ago). Aren't husbands wonderful? Take care of you and him, and each other.
