Waipio Valley Horseback Trip
 

Just wondering if there is any reason to choose the morning trip over the afternoon trip? Does this area tend to cloud over in the afternoon? (The trip we are thinking of choosing begins at 12:30 p.m.)

We would prefer to book the afternoon trip so we can sleep in one morning...all these early reservations are making for a not-so-relaxing trip!

I stayed right out on the point in Waipio in a duplex a couple of years ago. It was in late March or early April as I recall. I didn't notice any particular fog or excessive clouds at anytime other than the one afternoon that it rained. So, I didn't detect a "trend", like having it cloud up and rain everyday. Of course it might be different at another time of year. One of the people that runs one of the riding tours kept his horses right below our deck. Loved seeing them there.

Every once in awhile, the meterologists on the Honolulu TV stations will give a detailed explanation of how the whole clouds-to-rain process happens here in our islands.

The basic explanation is that, as the day warms up the land, the humidity (which we always have) builds into clouds, and thus comes the rain.

So if you want to have the best chance of having a dry ride into Waipi`o Valley, you'll want to take the morning ride. No guarantees of no rain, but the odds will be more in your favor.

BTW, those of us who are early-to-rise (5a.m. is "sleeping in"), indulge ourselves faithfully in an afternoon nap.

That way we can stay up late...9p.m., if we're really rested! :))
