Waimea Bay Hotel vs. Waikiki

Just read an older Travel and Leisure article that recommended the Turtle Bay Resort on Waimea Bay as a more "quiet" option on Oahu vs. the towel drenched beaches of Waikiki.

This is my second time on Oahu and looking for more relaxation. My husband's first trip however, so we could always drive down and spend the day at Waikiki.

Has anyone stayed at this resort, I can't seem to find it listed anywhere else.

Thank you!

Not famiiar with the resort but in general I'd take Waimea Bay over Wakiki any day! Day trip to Waikiki and enjoy the beauty of Waimea-
Have Fun!

The Turtle Bay is a Hilton located on the opposite shore from Waikiki. It is beautful, but quite a distance from Honolulu. If you're looking for peace and quiet, it's a great place to be.

Good Luck,

Bobbi

The Turtle Bay Hilton is not at Waiamea bay...it is miles past there, closer to Kahuku on the other end of the north shore. It is quiet, as it is way out in the country. It is about an hour's drive (at best)to Waikiki, more like 2 hours if on a weekend with lots of visitors or big surf!

The Turtle Bay is currently undergoing major renovations. Keep this in mind or call them to check on the status of the construction. Over the past years the hotel has gotten run down and was in need of a facelift. If you are really looking for relaxation, consider one of the outer islands. There is really not much to do at the Turtle Bay other than golf. The beaches/surf there can be fairly rough. Driving to the nearest attraction is Haleiwa town which you can cover in half a day. Other than that Waikiki is a fair drive away.

We drove out there and enjoyed th natural beauty, but the hotel and lobby is so outdated. It seems to attract an older clientele (which we usually like), but I was so glad we had not chose this as our hotel!
