Wailea Marriott?
My husband and I may be going to HI for a conference in November. The conf. will be in Oahu, but we want to go to Maui afterwards to celebrate our anniversary. We went to Maui for our HM and unfortunately, we are limited in the hotel we can stay at due to a voucher he's receiving as an award. The voucher will only allow us to stay at either a Ritz Carlton, a Marriott or a Best Western. As we really want to go back to Wailea, our only real option is the Marriott. Is it a decent hotel? We stayed at the Kea Lani our first trip. Our only real alternative to the Marriott would be to just stay at the KL and pay ourselves (not completely outside the realm of possibilities). Thanks much for any input.

We stayed in the Wailea Marriott ths past summer and LOVED it! The grounds are beautiful. It is more like a resort than a hotel. We had a suite which was incredible (an upgrade for a Platinum member). They had a wonderful breakfast buffet with tons of fresh, tropical fruit. It is in a good location with shops and restaurants in walking distance. There is no beach right at the hotel but there are 2 within a very short distance (maybe a 2 minute walk). I think you will love this hotel!

I stayed at the Wailea Marriott before the most recent remodel. I liked it then, and am sure it is even nicer now. I enjoyed the lovely grounds...lots of green grass and open spaces. The kids pool is over to one side of the property, which makes for a serene adult pool area.

I would not have any fears about staying at the Wailea Marriott. We were there two years (mid - renovation) and are heading back there in late April. We loved it two years ago and I can only imagine that it is even more wonderful now with their new adult infinity pool. Although there is no beach right in front you can walk to either side of the resort along a walkway and find two great beaches. The staff were wonderful, the rooms a decent size and the beds were very comfortable. There is great shopping right behind the resort at the Shops at Wailea which includes an ABC store and several places to eat. I say go for it!

Marriott has sunk millions of dollars into the Marriott Wailea. My biggest complaint is that it's not on a sandy beach. But there's one next door.
I'd stay there. |
