Wailea / Kihei area beach info for resorts
I am finding myself confused by what is considered "oceanfront" condos - but no beach? We definitely want a beach, but some of these condos that list oceanfront then say "just a short 5 minute walk to the beach". Any advice on a true beachfront condo (looking at around $300 night for a 1 bedroom)
Also, I read in Fodor's 2007 that North Kihei tens to have windy beaches scattered with seaweed - should we avoid that area based on that?

If the complex has oceanfront units the complex will most likely bill themselves as oceanfront, even if not all the units are not truly oceanfront. Ask lots of questions of the management about the particular unit you are interested in. It will be hard to find a truly oceanfront unit in Wailea for less than $450 a night.

Check out the Hale Hui Kai on Keawakapu Beach. It's the last condo in Kihei before Wailea. It is a small complex with some direct ocean front units and others that are set back. All the units are 2 Br but in your price range.
We stayed in unit 312 and it was wonderful!
