Wailea Bay on BI

I am considering renting a house on Wailea Bay on the Big Island. Can anyone give me some information on this area? I know that it is a marine sanctuary with supposedly good snorkeling and swimming. Has anyone stayed on this bay or beach? The reason this place seems so appealing is because of the beach access and the access to great snorkeling. Any comments? Thanks!

I have a house on the big island and this is one of our favorite beaches. No lifeguards or bathrooms, but not crowded. This is in the Kohala area, about 25 miles north of Kona, next to Hapuna Beach, which is one of the best beaches in the world. In the winter, the surf can be high, snorkling is good. You can drive inland to Wiamea for groceries.

GloriaE: Thanks! We will be there in the summer, so I am assuming the waters will be calmer then?

Waves are usually calmer in the spring or summer. You will have a great time. What could be better than a secluded Hawaiian beach? While you are in the area, try the fish tacos at the lunch shack at Hapuna beach. My favorite.
