I haven't stayed, but once requested a look-see. They are perfectly fine DEPENDING on what you want and are used to. I'd be happy to answer specific questions. Also, check out the Marc Resorts website
www.marcresorts.com
I would want to know when they did their last redecoration (that would be a direct call to the manager). They are located near to Waikiki Beach. Lower floors will not have a good view.

hi j,

if it's just a clean, basic room, this place will be ok or you. i have not stayed, tho i have seen the rooms when a friend used to work there some years ago. i can't remember how many floors (maybe 7?) but it is pretty small.

it's about a 7-min walk to the beach, skirting around the waikiki shore hotel, which is on the beach next to the outrigger.

if you have a car, check parking. last time i was there it was a 90-degree turn into a small drive leading behind the building.

sometimes the wait for check-in can be slow (usually only 1 person at reception) but if you don't mind the wait it's ok. you can easily walk to the 'main' parts of waikiki.

have a great time!

oops, forgot to add that this place can be a bit noisy, it's popular with a younger crowd and i've seen a few families there (who also use the pool at the sister hotel across the road). don't know how busy it'll be when you go, though.

lani
thank for your reply i think it will be ok too. don't think we will get a car. howfar is the bus stop ?
thank ,j

Hi, J. The beach is very close, maybe 6 buildings between your place & the sand.
The eastbound bus route (toward Diamondhead) is just steps to your north on Kalakaua Ave. But I think westbound busses run along Kuhio Ave, about 2 blocks north, still easily walked.
see www.thebus.org
for routes and schedules.
The room I saw at this property had a kitchen and nice sized balcony. My memory says it had more like 15 floors, but it has been awhile. It should be fine for your needs. Good central location. Have a Good Time. Becky

It's me again. If you won't be renting a car and want to see mainly the Pearl Harbor/Arizona Memorial I recommend you take a bus tour. That way you needn't worry about transportation. They will also take you to the Punchbowl Nat'l. Cemetery, which you would also be interested in, I think.
I was there in Oahu with family when Sept.11 happened. One week afterward we were able to do this tour, only the Missouri tour was still closed. My father, who is an 81 yr. young Navy Veteran had not been back to Pearl or the island since just before the Pearl Harbor attack. He greatly enjoyed this combo tour. It was only $12/pp.and did hotel pickup.
Feel free to e-mail me direct if you'd like the discount tour operator's info.
They are right around the corner from your hotel. We were introduced to this tour op. from a flier passed out at the airport. The tour is from 7 to noon or 10AM to 3PM. Becky
