waikiki hotel

We are two adults who will be two night in Waikiki. Need recommendations on hotels on beach or close. Tell about your choice. Thanks

Lois, there is such a wide variety of types and prices to choose from in Waikiki. Can you be more specific about price range, and type of accomodations you'd like.
For example, if money is no problem, try the beautiful Halekalani. For old, historical and charming, try the Royal Hawaiian (the pink one) or the Moana. For average, with a variety of accomodations/prices, try one of the Outriggers. We usually stay at an Outrigger, taking advantage of getting 50% off by using our Entertainment book.

Go with Outrigger. Clean, good price and close to everything.
My favorite Outrigger is the Outrigger EAST -- two blocks from the beach. Especially great are the kitchenette suites.
What and where do you get the Entertainment Book that is mentioned for Hawaii in some of the replies. We are going in July. The dinner cruise sounds pretty nice. Thanks

Gosh -- I can't believe that there's a single person left in America who hasn't been badgered to buy an Entertainment by book his or her: local school, labor union, service organization, place of business, bank, etc. etc.! Lucky you!

Seriously -- check out their website at www.entertainmentbooks.com or call 1-800-374-4464 for out-of-town books. They really are a good value!

The Outrigger Waikiki is right on the beach between the more expensive Moana Surfrider and the Royal Hawaiian. Not cheap, but reasonable for the location and very friendly. On the best part of the beach. Have a great time.

Please consider the Moana Surfrider. It is tryely an historic hotel and we have always had a great time there. Ask for a room in the historic wing as they are larger and still ahve the old plantation feel. Rooms are very clean and have amenities like robes and slippers. The courtyard has the famous Banyan tree and it is a pleasure to sit and have cocktails at sunset and enjoy the Hawaiian entertainment. Sit on the veranda and read the morning paper, have breakfast and peoplw watch. Also conveniently located to everything downtown Waikiki and the beach out front is right in the thick of things. Best people watching on the beach. We love the Surfrider and think it is the best hotel on the beach fro the money.
