Waikiki Honeymoon in May
 

Travelling from the UK mid may for 7 nights honeymoon. staying at the Outrigger on the Beach.What to do, where to eat, how's the hotel. Give me everything! All gratefully received.

We stayed at that Hotel about 5 years ago but I think it was called the Outrigger Waikiki. They had a restaurant called Dukes which had a great breakfast buffet. We found a great place for breakfast called Eggs and Things near Hilton Hawaiian village which my husband still talks about to this day. We also went back 3 years ago and stayed at the Hilton Hawaiian Village and loved it!!

Rent a car so that, after you've spent one day walking around Waikiki, you can get out and see the rest of Oahu. Remember, we drive on the RIGHT side of the road! (Sorry, I couldn't resist!) <BR> <BR>Go to Pearl Harbor and see the Arizona Memorial. Eat at Chinatown in downtown Honolulu. Take a tour through the Iolani Palace in Honolulu. Drive to Haleiwa on the North Shore and have a shave ice at Matsumoto's. Shop for souvenirs at the Aloha Stadium swapmeet. <BR> <BR>My husband and I did all of the above and had a wonderful time!

Hello Matt: Your hotel is the flagship hotel of the huge Outrigger chain. It is officialy called the Outrigger Waikiki "On the Beach." Rooms are lovely, clean and fairly spacious. Location right on the beach is excellent, right in central Waikiki between two famous hotels, the Moana and the Royal Hawaiian (the Pink Palace)which you will often see on posters of Waikiki. Duke's is a lively (at times rowdy) "singles' scene" bar with a restaurant with tables overlooking the beach or at dinner, right ON the beach. As previous writer said, they have a good breakfast. You two will love walking right out of the hotel onto the beach at night, strolling in the cool sand with the sound of gentle waves, the shimmer of the gas torches lining the beach, and the ocean breeze . As for sightseeing, there is so, so much to do in Honolulu and on the entire island of Oahu, I recommend getting a good guidebook such as Frommers or Fodors. Rent a car for part of your stay (I believe ther is a car rental desk in the hotel lobby) and at the very least, take the Pali Highway over the mountains to Kailua. The vista is awe-inspring and the beaches of Kailua and neighboring Lanikai are beautiful. From Kailua, you can drive 'round the island in either direction and be amazed by its beauty. <BR>

One of the fun things about Outrigger hotels is that they publish a daily bulletin/newsletter which is slipped under your room door each morning. They mention guests who are there for honeymoons, anniversaries, their third stay, or what have you. So if you want a little souvenir of your Waikiki honeymoon with your name in print, either you or your travel agent can call ahead to the reservations desk and let them know the English honeymooners are there! <BR>

<BR>Matt, we have stayed at many <BR>Edgewaters, using the <BR>Entertainment book to get 50% <BR>off. Your hotel is one of the <BR>better ones and in a good <BR>location. I just posted <BR>restaurant info on here earlier <BR>so hopefully you can find that. <BR>And for a special romantic dinner <BR>one night, may I suggest Michel's <BR>a wonderful French restaurant at <BR>the Colony Surf Hotel down <BR>towards Diamond Head. Reserve a <BR>table at a window.
