W Lakeshore Chicago

I researched here & on Tripadvisor.com & it looks like this is a pretty nice hotel. A few negatives style-wise, but it seems that the service is up there. My company has a corporate rate of $109, and was thinking that maybe I should jump on that. Any thoughts? Any recent stays?

Since no one has replied, I will give it a shot. I have not stayed there but a good friend of mine did just a few weeks ago and loved it. I met her for drinks in the lobby bar and also saw her room which I thought was very nice. She had a beautiful view of the lake and Navy Pier. I really like the funky style and I love the bathrooms downstairs in the lobby (smoked glass between the womens and mens rooms). The service at the bar is always pleasant and efficient. $109 is a fantastic rate at that hotel and I would say go for it.

I haven't stayed there but I've eaten there and it seems pretty nice. That's a great rate too. It's very close to Navy Pier and the lakefront with easy walking to Michigan Ave.

I've stayed there, and the only problem we had was with the air conditioning in our room. There were 2 temperatures--arctic and desert blast. I kept waking up in a puddle of sweat until the air kicked on, then had to climb under the down comforter, only to awaken in another puddle of sweat.

If you have a room facing the lake, make sure you pull the blackout curtain (some in our party didn't notice them) or risk a very early wake-up.

Oh, and I didn't think that Wave, their restuarant, was all that for the money.

I don't know how popular the Whiskey Sky bar is, but when we stayed there we had to carry our room key to get past the bouncers and onto the elevator.

For $109, though, I'd say it's a great deal!

The W Lakefront is okay. There are a lot of other hotels I would pick but the $109 rate is very very good.

This used to be a Days Inn that was heavily remodeled. The rooms are on the smaller side and the walls aren't the thickest. Just hope your neighbors aren't the passionate type who argue with great gusto and make up even wilder.

The lakeview rooms are great.

Whiskey Sky isn't the madhouse that it was a couple of years ago but does help you get in. When I was there a few years ago the place was so hip it was a two hour wait to get in. But hotel guests don't have to wait.

Thanks everyone! I think that I would be crazy to pass up that rate. Hubby thinks he can get a rate of $89 for a one of the downtown Hiltons, but, of course, he doesn't know which Hilton. Again, thanks for the replies! If I do book, I'll make sure to let you know what I thought!
