W Hotel Times Square...any reviews?
Took our first trip to NYC during Christmas break and loved it so much we're going back in Feb! A new W Hotel opened in Times Square in late December. Anyone heard any rants or raves on it? Anyone stayed there yet?

Thanx a mint for all the postings...the info from fodors' discussion is wonderful!!

I went there today to check it out for my theater-addicted friends when they visit NYC. I don't like Times Square personally, but at least the entrance of the W Hotel is just around the corner, on 47th St. They are trying so, so hard to be cool, hip, trendy, that I had a good chuckle. The lobby is certainly non-traditional; hallways painted black (which is getting to be very ordinary now). The hotel has only about 500 rooms, so is smaller than some others in the Times Sq area, which is a plus. The rooms are all gray, black, and white, with frosted glass walls around the bathrooms, and the super comfy beds that are W's hallmark. Since it is brand-new, I would recommend it to my friends as the top pick in Times Sq, provided you can get a reasonable rate. I asked at the concierge desk, and they had no clue what their room rates might be. Time to play, "Let's Make a Deal?"

Thanx a mint for your info Lois. I have surfed around and apart from the W Hotel web-site couldn't find any review-type info on it, so your posting was great!

It's definitely one of the new "hip" places to stay and very centrally located. Another good option, if "hip" is what you're looking for, is The Paramount Hotel. Either one would be a good choice, depending on the room rate.
