W French Quarter
I've read a number of poor review for the W French Quarter in the past--especially in terms of serve. Has anyone stayed there recently? Has service improved at all? I booked a great deal through Convention and Visitor Bureau and wonder if I should reconsider. Thanks in advance for feedback.

French Quarters, hummmmm - what city, state, planet?

Is there another French Quarter on the planet other than the one in New Orleans? I'm curious to heard comments on the W Hotel also.

I stayed at the W New Orleans on Poydoras (Sp). It was fantastic! The beds are the most comy I've ever experienced. It was only a 10 minute walk to the French Quarter. ALso if you go, go to the bar in the hotel called Whiskey Blue. It is owned by Randy Gerber (Cindy Crawford's Hubby). Very Nice! They make the best Sour Apple Martinis.

My wife and I stayed at the W French Quarter about two months ago and enjoyed it thoroughly. But we did not enjoy the first room assigned to us since it only had one, and a hard, chair. A request to move brought us to a room adjacent to the swimming pool; it had a large, private patio where we relaxed with wine and snacks. The adjacent restaurant (another Brennan), which we found to be of high quality for lunch and dinner, does not (or at least did not serve) breakfast. But a light one could be ordered for room (or patio) service. Location of the hotel is suberb. Finally, we found the rate given through the Convention Bureau to be a full $60 less than that quoted by the Starwood (W's parent) reservation service.

Thank you Mr. Binder for taking the time to post the reply. It's very helpful. Thanks.

Thank you Wendy and Susan for comments. F

My experience at the W Hotel in the French Quarter was not pleasant. Loud piped-in music, a terrible restaurant (Backo?), rude staff who seems very impressed that they were hired by the hotel, etc. I would choose the Monteleone, Royal Orleans or Royal Sonesta Hotel any day.
