Vt. Honeymoon ideas - Feb. 2007
 

Hi folks -

Getting marries in the Stowe are in February and we are considering staying in the state for the honeymoon. My fiancee's parents own a house in Stowe, so I am only familar with that immediate area, and we will want to be somewhere other than Stowe. We cros country ski, skate and snow shoe, but do not downhill ski.

Any suggestions?

The Mountain View Grand Resort & Spa in Whitefield NH would not be a long drive from Stowe. (It's almost on the NH/VT border) and offers a lot of winter activities. If you want a place with spa services and upscale dining, this might be good. We've only stayed once, in September, but felt it was a little too fancy for us.
A smaller inn in NH's White Mountains might be better.

I think I responded to you over at Tripadvisor....check out Inn at Mountain View Creamery in East Burke or the Wildflower Inn in Lyndonville. Also, the Rabbit Hill Inn in Lower Waterford is wonderful. Lots of x-country options nearby.

Gave you the wrong name for one of the inns...it's the Inn at Mountain View Farm.

The Inn at Sawmill Farm near Mt. Snow, VT.

Mountain Top Inn (in Chittendon) is cozy and romantic, with world-class x-country ski trails (the olympic team has trained there). They also have ice skating, sledding, and sleigh rides. Probably snow shoes too, but I don't know.

The food is terrific, and there is a big fireplace in the lobby/reading room.

(Gosh I didn't realize every inn in Vt has Mountain in its name. )
