VRBO vs. Agency for Paris Apartment

I'd appreciate any input: VRBO or Agency? I just got an apartment snapped up from under me through an agency, so I'm now going through VRBO. As trustworthy? Are the prices a little lower?

thanks!

I don't think there is a definitive answer to your question. You need to go with whatever apartment and whichever terms you feel most comfortable with. I've done both with equal success.

You may get more help if you post this on the Europe, rather than US, board.

Unless, of course, you're refering to the Paris in Arkansas, Idaho, Illinois or Kentucky!

Good luck.

some Fodorites, myself included, have rented through these people: www.lacigaleparis.com

Thoroughly satisfying.

Post on Europe for better results!

My feeling is that it might not matter, as long as you know it is a reputable owner or agency (ie you have a good recommendation).

Although, a good agency may be able to provide more in terms of customer service. We have rented through Paris Perfect, and though it is somewhat pricey, the service is first class. The amount of info they give you about the neighborhood, the type of help they are willing to provide (from arranging airport transportation to even helping with medical emergencies should one arise), and the way they have furnished and stocked the apartments, is top-notch.
