Visting Flaming Gorge

Just wanted to get some information from anyone that may have camped or stayed in cabins near Flaming Gorge, UT, WY. We are thinking about a Memorial weekend trip, but don't want it so rustic that you can go to a great place for breakfast!!
Thanks for your help..
IMO, Flaming Gorge is a neat place to drive by but I wouldn't stay there--and we are campers. It's pretty much a desert with a lake.

There are NO restaurants for a long way that I have ever seen.

I don't know where you are but in that area, I would go to Jackson.

If you'll look on your map, there are no towns close by.

I was there 2 summers ago and got eaten alive by the most aggressive red ants I have ever encountered immediately after stepping out of the car. I wouldn't recommend camping there. The mormon crickets are cool though.

Hi Connie!

Flaming Gorge is pretty remote & I know of no cabins to rent. Camping is pretty good, fishing & boating are awesome! Rainbow trout right out of the lake & into the frying pan - yummy!!

Very scenic and pretty - def worth a stop if you can do it. We were there last May and had no bug/insect problems. The 'undeveloped' aspect is kind of a plus - being that there are fewer and fewer places you can say that about.

We stayed at fishing camp/motel that was overrun with....surprise!....fishermen. Which would have been fine, except for a certain stripe of 'sportsman personality' that emerged in the dining room, that I'd never encountered before: loud, overbearing, and inconsiderate of the fact that anyone else was in the immediate vicinty and perhaps not interested in theirconversation/ opinions, etc. This was a mixed gender group that, judging by the vehicles, were pretty well-off.
