Visiting White Sands during Full Moon?

I've read that White Sands is a great place to visit particularly during a full moon. There is a full moon September 7th but it seems like it closes pretty early. How does one see the White Sands with the full moon? Thanks!

May 26 - September 4 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Last night someone told me about visiting the badlands near Borrego Springs (here in So. Calif.. She described it as looking like a moonscape.
With what I've seen in White Sands, you might get moon sparkle!
Hope you tell us in your trip report.

You're in luck (if you like bicycles). There's a special 3-hour moonlight bike ride on September 8th. Info is here: http://tinyurl.com/prlnt

Otherwise, it looks like the road is closed outside of the posted hours. The only other way to enjoy the full moon is to backpack and camp out on the dunes from what I can gather from the NPS website.

You might check to see if there are any ranger-guided tours on full moon nights.
