Visiting White Mountains NH from UK

Thanks to all of you who were kind enough to pass on some information about New Hampshire. It was all very helpful. We are looking forward to visiting next month and seeing all the wonderful places.

Thank you

Enjoy your trip - the White Mountains are very pretty and well worth the trip. Hope you'll be visiting Boston as well.

Hi Bennnie,
Yes we will be visiting Boston. Our visit starts there. We were in Boston early last year and loved it. Another question for anyone.....what is the weather like in New Hampshire in mid October? Is it wet, dry and will we need plenty of warm clothes?

Thank you.

Hopefully, cool and crisp, but not cold. Yes, bring warm clothes - fleece and the like, and perhaps some earmuffs for hikes. We have had snow as early as Sept. in New England {flurries}, and Mt. Washington can have blizzard conditions at most any time of the year!

There is simply no predicting the weather!

You just never know about the weather. Could be chilly and crisp, or we could have a spell of Indian Summer during your visit.

Best bet is the ubiquitous layers. Check the ten-day forecast at www.weather.com (Jackson, NH, Franconia, NH are good towns to check) just before leaving for finalizing your packing. Even so, be prepared in case it's quite chilly, so you'll be comfortable while out and about.
