Visiting San Antonio early November
 

Hi. My wife and I, late 50's are planning a trip early November to San Antonio and could use your help. We will be flying out of Boston and most likely flying Jet Blue to/from Austin, Tx. We plan on renting a car in Austin. Jet Blue doesn't fly to San Antonio and we have some credits with JB that we would like to take advantage of.
We like nice local restaurants with great food and like nice walks with great sights but mostly going there to relax.
What is the typical weather in November?
How is the drive from Austin to San Antonio? How long should we plan on the drive taking?
How many nights should we stay in San Antonio? We were thinking 4 nights.
Where should we stay in SA? We would like a place that has a really nice pool that gets alot of sunshine. We were considering staying at the Riverwalk but not sure if we should be staying at another location that may offer a better resort.
What are some must do's while we are there?

The drive from Austin to SA is only about 1.5 hours (of course, depending on the day and time). It is all high speed highway, nothing of interest to see except for miles and miles of shopping centers and advertising.

IMO, weather in Central Texas is ideal in Oct and Nov, and it will certainly be way better than what you will be coming from. That said, it could be 85 or it could be 45. Most likely it will be in the 60-70s and beautiful.

I can't give good advice on where to stay as we usually do day trips to SA, but yes, the Riverwalk is quite popular.

All or part of The Mission Trail should not be missed. The Riverwalk for strolling and eating. Also check out Historic Market Square and Mi Tierra Cafe, but be prepared for big crowds there.

We jsut got back from SA. Bela on the River was the best restaurant we ate at. Wonderful food and interesting environment. Bourdos was very very loud and crowded and food was good but not as good as Bela.

Be sure to visit the entire Mission Trail and go back to the Alamo at sunset when the lights shine on the front It is closed but it makes for a lovely photo. during the day it wasn't too crosded as it is off season.

1.5 hour drive from Austin airport to SA to our hotel Omni LeMansion on the Riverwalk. . Walking the King George District was delightful. Stopped at the visitor center and got walking map of the homes with history,e tc.

I was disappointed in the Historic Market Square but I guess everyone needs to see it.
