visiting Maui for the first time
I am visiting Maui for the first time, in Aug. I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for fun things? Or just great views. Thanks.

Here are a few humble suggestions:
1. Wake up very early and watch the sun rise at Haleakala crater. Dress warmly!
2. Bike ride down Haleakala crater. Never did it but it looks fun.
3. Horseback riding in upcountry Maui.
4. Scuba diving or snorkeling at Molokini island. (Kind of crowded). Better yet, a sail from Maui to the island of Lanai (day trip).
5. Picnic at Makena beach.
6. Stroll around Lahaina town, enjoy all of the numerous art galleries.
7. Maui's aquarium is small but enjoyable.
8. Visit a winery on Maui.
Aloha,
Kehau

How could I forget? A fun thing to do is drive the road to Hana in a convertible or jeep.

I just came back from Maui and we drove up the Haleakala mountain to the top. That was great! What a terrific site. But we were not dressed warmly and were so cold we left after a little bit. Bring a jacket or sweater and you could stay there all day.

We went to the Maui Ocean Center and that was nice but if you don't have kids it might be a bit boring.

We went to Makena Beach on the Southwest side of Maui. That was huge fun!

We stayed at the Kapalua Bay Resort and my husband and son played a round of golf at the Plantation Course. There is also a great beach there behind the Ritz in Kapalua.

Kehau...what's the best company for horseback riding in Upcountry? I'm going in 17 days and staying in Hailiimaile? Could use your advice!
Mahalo~
