Visiting Las Vegas March 1998
My family is planning to visit Las Vegas during
spring break. We have a 9 year old daughter and plan to meet up with additional family members with children. I have never been to vegas and would like any information on where and what at a resonable price. Please feel free to e-mail me at. [email protected] Thanks Margaret Kirkland |
my wife and i went to vegas in march, 1994, from upstate NY. the cheapest way to go is with an American Airlines package deal, which includes airfare, hotel, and rental car. in 94 we went for 7 nights for $1100. good hotels for kids include Treasure Island, the Mirage, and Circus Circus (although the last is a bit of a madhouse). Meals are cheap everywhere, with buffets in every hotel. if you resist the urge to gamble, this is the least expensive place to go in the lower 48. |
Visited Vegas 2 years ago with 2 kids 14 and 12 -- plenty to do for them!! They loved it. Circus Circus has lots for them to do, so does MGM where we stayed. Food is good ( and cheap) though skip the food at Excaliber, most other hotels had much better! You'll have a great time!

Las Vegas is GREAT! We have taken our kids the last two years. They were 12 and 16 the first year. We went for the cheaper hotel package. Forget that, location is very important and with the casino themes for kids you will really want to spend a few extra bucks. The strip has two main clusters of casinos at each end with a gap in the center. You will want to choose a casino at one end. The MGM Grand might be your best bet since they have a monorail that will transport you to Bally's casino and put you at the other end easily. Also, there is a wonderful collection of casinos around the MGM. The New York, New York is across the street with the fabulous rollercoaster ride. Also, the Excaliber is on the opposite corner and they have a great medieval theme. They have a cool dinner show kids like with a wizard, horses, knight and no silverware for your chicken dinner. It can get quite roudy with everyone pounding on the tables and cheering. I would definately take the kids to the Lance Burton magic show!!! It is quite reasonable in a beautiful new theatre room in the Monte Carlo casino. It is just across the street. Adults and kids are amazed by his magic. After the show he signs autographs too! I would take the kids down to Treasure Island for the free Pirate show one night. They have sword fight, bursting flames and huge ships. It is really cool too. They have the best buffet in town so hit dinner while you are there. Be sure and check out the free show in Caesars. Hang out at the big statues on the hour. Ask anyone in Caesars and they will help you. My sons suggest staying at the Excaliber. They loved the big castle theme and I
know it is very reasonable. They have free acts all through the day for kids. Yes, they may be right. Well, I know this is a lot of info. E-mail if you want more information. The casinos are huge so take your walking shoes. Location is important! Either the Excaliber or MGM will be fascinating places for your family. I would just let that little girl pick the hotel!!! |
