Visiting Hollywood
 

I have reservations for the Renaissance
hotel in Hollywood. I need to find
restaurants with healty meals pricing
between $15.00 and $20.00 before tax and tip.
Are there other attractions besides
DisneyLand,The Getty Museum and Universal Studio? Also, was my pick of this hotel OK?

The hotel is fine. There are literally thousands of choices in restaurants in the LA area-- most of which will offer reasonably-priced, healthy and satisfying meals.

As far as attractions-- the LA metropolitan area is larger than many countries. In the metro area, there are things like:

-- Six Flags Magic Mountain, Valencia
-- Knott's Berry Farms Theme Park, Buena Park
-- Old Town Pasadena
-- Santa Monica Pier and the Third Street Promenade
-- Venice Beach
-- Los Angeles County Museum of Art
-- Museum of Contemporary Art (Downtown LA)
-- The Queen Mary, Long Beach
-- The Aquarium of the Pacific, Long Beach
-- The Museum of Tolerance, Beverly Hills
-- Rodeo Drive and Via Rodeo, Beverly Hills
-- Melrose Ave and the Never-Ending Freak Show, West Hollywood/LA/Hollywood
-- The Sunset Strip and its Nightlife

Do I have to go on...?

There are several restaurants in the Hollywood and Highland complex next door to the hotel including Koji's Sushi & Shabu Shabu which is very healthy. California Pizza Kitchen also has great salads. There are also other eateries there. Try this website:

This hotel has recently been renovated so I think it's probably a safe bet. It used to be a Holiday Inn many years ago.

Try Farmers Market -3rd and Fairfax,
Peterson Auto Museum -Wishire and Fairfax. At Disneyland, visit Downtown Disney. My favorite place to eat is the Rainforest Cafe there. If you are going into Orange County (where Disneyland is) visit Laguna Beach and Balboa Island. Enjoy your trip.

Plan on lunch when you visit the Getty, the cafe has several healthy choices.

Universal is attached to a mini-mall "Citywalk", where you'll have no problem finding food. The subway station to Universal is just outside the Renaissance, and is just a ten minute trip.

I would recommend a trip to the L.A. Zoo if the weather is breezy, and at night a jaunt to the Griffith Park Observatory.

I think the Observatory is closed for renovations at the moment.

We stayed at the Renaissance Hollywood last September, it's a really nice hotel, great location! I hope you got a room with breakfast included, they have an awesome breakfast buffet, option for a very healthy breakfast. I would suggest the Warner Bros Studio tour, it's a great behind the scenes tour, you may even run into a celeb if you are lucky. We enjoyed going to a Tonight Show taping. Have fun!

Citywalk is an excellent suggestion! And a quick hop from your hotel. I always forget about stuff up in the Valley.

And yes, the Griffith Park Observatory is closed for the next few years for major renovations. When it's done, it will be spectacular-- but until then we're SOL.
