Visiting Gettysburg

Finally made a long-hoped-for visit to Gettysburg. I did some research before our trip, but never really felt like I had enough information about lodging, restaurants or touring the battlefield. So now that I've been there, I pulled together a post of some of the things I wish I had known before the trip, which will hopefully be helpful to others. You can view it here: https://polloplayer.wordpress.com/20...ng-gettysburg/

If you are at all interested in the American Civil War, Gettysburg is an absolute must-see, and it is a surprisingly nice little town to visit in and of itself. Very walkable, and a very friendly community.

Thanks for posting this. Gettysburg and other Civil War sites have long been on our "to do" list. Hoping to make it a reality next year and this info will certainly help.

Thanks for posting! I haven't been to Gettysburg since I was a (mostly disinterested) teenager, but I plan to go again at some point now that I will have more appreciation for it.

So glad you enjoyed the post, @bettyk and @kansasmom. I was dragged to Manassas as a young adult and thought it the most boring afternoon I'd ever spent. Now, older and wiser, I really want to go back there and to Antietam and Chancellorsville...
