Visiting Anna Maria

Will be a tourist March 20 through 23 and staying at Anna Maria. Would like to know if any good sea food (sit down) restaurants that are more than jeans but not formal? Maybe with nice atmosphere.

Where is it?

It's on the west coast of Florida, north of Sarasota by 30 minutes or so.

It's been 14 years since I've been there - sorry I can't help. We used to like Harry's on Longboat Key.

I had some yummy crab cakes at the Pier (the main one). Very casual and you can sit down inside or out. My hubby had some sort of fish he enjoyed.

We've been to Anna Maria a few times and our favorite restaurants for atmosphere (fun with great views and fresh food) are The Sandbar, www.sandbar-restaurant.com
and Rotten Ralphs, www.rottenralphs.com. On nearby Longboat Key there is Moore's, www.stonecrab.net. They all get crowded, so call and find out a good time to go or plan on having a drink while you wait. Have a great time!

Beach Bistro isn't right in Anna Maria, but is the best restaurant in that vicinity. It's small...you'll need reservations in advance.

I LOVE going to the Sandbar, love the atmosphere! You can sit out on the deck overlooking the white sand and incredible water. Food is only "OK", but ambiance makes up for it in spades!

Anna Maria restaurants are very casual (e.g., the Sandbar). If you make the short drive south to Longboat Key, you'll find a few more "upscale" dining options.

Area restaurants were recently discussed on this forum. I suggest you do a search & you'll find a lot of information.

Enjoy!
