visit to nola

I posted about our upcoming trip some two weeks ago and received excellent advice. Well, we are now in Chicago from Istanbul (and have been here, frantically helping our daughter and SIL Tto settle in their new home, and will fly to Nola tomorrow morning.
I decided it was time to check the restaurant and music recommendations and horror of horrors: My whole thread has disappeared. i have looked everywhere, i think, and cannot find it.
Or did i stupidly post at TA instead of Fodors?

In any case, any help to solve the mystery of the stolen thread or new recommendations for spicy hot cholesterol and diabetes friendly meal restaurants and blues music for the old Turk who has suffered greatly through his 67 years and would like to feel all of it again, is more than welcome.

Thanks,
OC

thank you starrs. Should have been wise enough to check first myself. But i was so sure!!!. I guess, i was also feeling paranoid, with my wife accusing me for the fall of the Asian stock markets today.

Anyway, we now have increased our stay to three nights. We have five restaurant and five blues venues marked down. No paper map. warned against rental car. 8.05AM flight tomorrow morning. SIL has starting to get tired of us. The fact that he has been rushing out to put $6 in the machine every two hours for the street parking in front of the house for our rental car all the time we have been in the house has not helped his views of us, i guess, despite all the IKEA and the Potash and the Cosco and the Target shopping we have done for the house. Plus, Eser, the Turkish cleaning lady who claims to have been my wife in this reincarnation has done wonders in the service room which had not witnessed such an attempt since the new boiler/cooler was installed at least twenty years ago.
This actually may be a requirement of the neighborhood, because we noticed that some of the neighbors who are also all property owners have not moved their doormats since the McCarthy Era, when moving the mats were considered to be suspicious.
Chicago did its best to prepare us for New Orleans weather, but NOLA seems to have decided to be very friendly by staying at about 80-81 daytime and 60 at night.

thanks for your time.

Not a problem. Enjoy NOLA. We were there in December and had a blast.

otherchelebi, have a wonderful trip to NOLA! If you like the music in any particular venue, you'll find that bartenders and band members are very receptive to a free round of drinks and will welcome you back as old friends if you're otherwise appreciative and friendly and return to hear a second set.

Well.... we're back, after four days of no google. Nola was great. After the first night around Bourbon, royal and Decatur, spent the next two on Frenchman Street with better music. Ate at Galatoire, The Commanders, Dragos and baignettes at cafe du monde. Had to fly to New York to spend evening with friends of my recently deceased concert pianist cousin at Antalia restaurant on 45th between 5th and 6th. Back in Chicago. Refused to go out tonight and cooked my own pasta for my wife and myself. Daughter and SIL went to Italian, came back tasted my pasta ad admitted mine was better. Notre Dame-Michigan night. Thanks everyone.
