What are you planning on doing in Bar Harbor? One place doesn't need an !itinerary". Let us know how many people are traveling and how much you want to spend and somebody will be able to help. I don't stay in first-class, so can't help there.

We are a couple (2 ) hav not been to the northeast before. Willing to spend what ever it costs. We like the sea and boating. Do you have any ideas.

Well, as with most locations along the coast, there are numerous ways to do that. from kayaking to windjammer cruises. Also not my thing...

It looks like you really need to get a hold of a guidebook, and/or look at the DESTINATIONS portion of this website, to see what kinds of things are available in the Bar Harbor/Acadia area, to see if it's the best destination for your interests.

This forum is really most useful for asking specific questions AFTER looking at the information already available here and elsewhere.

We always camp when up there, but there are a couple of very fancy looking places right on the water in Bar Harbor. I would say they are in the west side of the harbor if you can find a map. I'll look into it later, and post more.

OH! I almmost forgot, get up at 3 am and watch the sunrise on top of Cadalac Mnt. It's the first place in the US to see the sun rise.

Acadia National Park. Hiking or biking. Awesome. Good places to eat: Jordan Pond House www.jordanpondhouse.com and Mache Bistro www.MacheBistro.com (MB is my favorite.) Mache Bistro and the chef were just reviewed for the Portland Press. 4 stars.

Our favorite place to stay is the Bar Harbor Inn & Spa, located right at the water. It's located right in the middle of town so you can walk everywhere for meals and shopping and catch tours of Acadia National Park if you don't care to drive.

We've taken carriage rides through the park as well as rented bicycles.

The Bar Harbor Inn and Spa would fit the bill for a premium property. Alternatives are high-end inns in quieter parts of the island, such as Harbor Cottage Inn in Southwest Harbor and Ann's Point (4 rooms) on the water in Bass Harbor.
